Because we had a half day today, and because Pat can't go even a day without baseball, today Pat and Dad and I headed to the baseball fields right behind my school--correction, my ex-school--to go hitting (meaning that they hit the balls and I had to chase after them and dodge the ones that Pat hit toward me), and being there so soon after leaving the school was...weird. Because I've had track practice and gym class and walkathons there, and actually, tbh, it was so nice being there without having to sprint halfway around the field.
But it was cool because, well, to me anyway, baseball signifies the beginning of summer. I know baseball season ends right around summer, but with the travel team, Cooperstown, and All-Stars, the next month will be baseball-packed.
So anyway, after I almost got beaned in the head (um, yeah, my reflexes are nil when the sun is blinding me and I don't have my contacts in), I was up. And I actually hit most of them. Having the big, clunky helmet plopped on my hair was reassuring, even though I was concerned for the welfare of my flip-flop exposed toes. Plus, the shadow of my straight hair with a helmet on top was actually pretty...awesome. I mean, of COURSE I was paying more attention to the fact that a dusty, grimy baseball was whizzing past my bat than the fact that my shadow looked awesome. xoxo, Caiti
